Worcestershire have confirmed that Saeed Ajmal will not be re-joining the county for this year’s FLT20 competition because of international commitments with Pakistan.

Pakistan have only recently confirmed that they will be touring Sri Lanka in June and July which coincides with England’s domestic T20 competition.

Ajmal featured for the West Midlands club last year, where he picked up 16 wickets from 8 matches, conceding less than 6 runs per over in the process.

Speaking about Ajmal pulling out of his contract, Steve Rhodes director of cricket at Worcester said: “Losing a player of Saeed’s quality is a big disappointment, however, we are extremely active in finding a replacement for the t20.”

This year’s tournament gets underway on the 12th June with the group stages finishing on 8th July.
