Debutant Abdul Razzaq blitzed Leicestershire to a four wicket win over Lancashire at Old Trafford last night.

Leicestershire have now won two games in a row in their FL T20 campaign.

Lancashire, batted first and amassed a 162-5 off a rain effected 19 overs, which at the time looked a good score. This proved to be the case as Leicestershire still required 62 from their last four overs, despite a well-made 57 from Andrew Macdonald opening the innings.

It was at this point that Razzaq turned the game on its head. The Pakistani all-rounder hit 5 sixes in a blistering 30-ball 62 not out. Razzaq was making Old Trafford, which is a big ground look like a postage stamp.

His innings helped Leicestershire reach their target with a ball to spare, sparking celebrations in the dug-out from skipper Matthew Hoggard.

Razzaq only landed in the country 24 hours before play so his efforts are all the more remarkable.

This was Lancashire’s first defeat in the competition and they will still be confident that they have the firepower to progress out of their group.
