RouletteCricket© was conceived and developed by a couple of cricket fans and started life as a simple game played between friends in the Tavern Stand at Lords as a means of settling petty matters such as who was going to buy the next round of drinks. The ‘home of cricket’ was crudely divided up by the advertising boards around the pitch and whoever picked the board closest to the next boundary was judged the winner (and the loser coughed up!)
The RouletteCricket© team brings together enthusiastic, forward thinking and passionate individuals whose collective careers span project management, product development, marketing and design roles within such innovative companies as Rolls Royce, Virgin Atlantic, esure and Barclays Global Investors.
The inaugural “play for fun” game was excitedly launched as an iPhone app in April 2010 in time for the start of the ICC Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies. It has since gone on to win awards with the Vodafone Mobile Clicks competition (UK winners, European runner-up) and winner of Most Innovative App at the Mobile App World 2010. This success propelled the team onto developing the game further and into the Android market, in time for the Ashes Series 10/11.
Roulette Cricket were granted a gambling licence by the Gambling Commission in December 2010 and are now just moments away from launching the “play for money” game which will reside at online bookmakers. Another milestone achieved was to be the first to sign up to OpenBet’s remote gambling interface which allows Roulette Cricket to be taken from a catalogue of games supported by OpenBet, one of the leaders in games to the bookmaker community.
www.roulettecricket.com, which linked our blog, twitter and facebook pages, began hosting the first webgame during the English Summer. Following feedback from a number of our users, we redesigned and developed the site to allow for more community-led content, bringing together both the latest in cricket news and a number of new community features that enabled far greater interaction. Of course, Roulette Cricket the game remains and now sits pride of place in it’s new home, enabling users to both play the game and continue to browse the rest of the content. This wider set of encompassing content led us to rebrand the website ‘WeLiveCricket’, a new community for cricket lovers.
Our target is to develop multiple outlets for RouletteCricket© to be played by cricket lovers and novices alike, both online, on mobile, watching on TV or at the ground, and to make WeLiveCricket an essential website bookmark for cricket lovers everywhere to read about and discuss all things cricket.
If you would like to contact us about potential licensing and partnership opportunities we’re happy to take your call or email.
And finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners who without their passion and drive to succeed wouldn’t have made the game what it is. We’ve given them space to link off our site if you want to contact them – we’d thoroughly recommend it.
